Maintenance Personnel - Cornerstone Program

PROGRAM DESIGN: Roads to Success (RTS) facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging, where young people can build their Independence, find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Maintenance Personnel Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures in the community center including mechanical equipment and utility systems.
ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE:
Supervisor: Program Director
Hours: Full time – 35hrs/week
Compensation: $22/per Hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Receives verbal or written repair and maintenance requests from the Program Director or Assistant Program Director and responds in a timely manner.
Performs work according to standard procedure and by center’s operational schedule.
Clean rooms, hallways, restrooms, supply rooms, offices, stairways, windows and outside grounds as needed.
Uses brooms, mops, and floor equipment to sweep, mop, strip and wax floors.
Uses vacuum cleaners to clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and blinds.
Dusts furniture and equipment.
Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills.
Minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
Performs touch up and finish painting.
Empties wastebaskets.
Replenishes restroom supplies and cleans restrooms.
Replaces light bulbs.
Sets up/Break down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms, and function room s.
Clears snow from entrances and walkways.
Picks up and delivers supplies and materials to rooms.
Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
Reports work accomplished orally or in written work order to PD or AD.
Maintains supply inventory list and communications with PD or AD with items that need to be replenished.
Maintains an organized closet and storage workspaces.
Collaborates with maintenance works, vendors, and contractors as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required, or 3-4 years’ experience in building cleaning and maintenance work.
Certification in S-95 and or F-07/ completion of certification within first three months of employment
Candidate must be very responsible, organized & demonstrate positive communication skills.
The ideal candidate is personable, energetic, & enthusiastic.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all staff and participants while always remaining professional.
COMPETENCIES
Must demonstrate timeliness, attendance and most importantly, professionalism.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions.
Ability to relate to officials, staff and public in a courteous manner.
Ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
