Program Manager / Supervisor Youth Workforce Development

PROGRAM DESIGN: RTS facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging, where young people can build their Independence, find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary functions of the Program Manager are threefold: i) to ensure that the RTS mission and vision of positive youth development is carried into practice at program, ii) to ensure that program staff are clear on program goals, are given the direction and support they need to achieve those goals, are given regular and meaningful feedback on their work, are valued as employees, and are given multiple opportunities to grow and learn, and iii) to build and maintain positive relationships with all key stakeholders.
ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE:
Reports: Deputy Director of Education and Career Pathways
Supervises: All Youth Workforce Development Initiatives, Community-Bases, School-Based (Ages 14 – 24)
Hours: Fulltime, Monday – Friday
Compensation: $70,000 - 75,000 per year
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise all Youth Work Force Initiatives, (SYEP/WLG /Career Pathways/Learn and Earn) and other initiatives.
Supervise all both workforce and educational initiatives for +1,200 (SYEP/WLG/Pathways/Learn and Earn)
Oversee and Manage Staff Hiring, training, strategic planning, program implementation, Recruitment, Program Evaluation, Curriculum Development.
Manage staff evaluation process, conduct evaluations regularly and couch staff.
Manage program projects, contracts, budget, career fairs, and self-learning opportunities.
Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders such as community partnerships, Schools, NGOs, Government Institutions, participants, and parents.
Ensure program database is updated weekly such as attendance and program schedule.
Work with the Education Department to ensure age-appropriate and engaging programming.
Work with the Operations Department to ensure proper paperwork, staffing, and supply budgets.
Work with the Senior Program Director to manage logistics and quality of program.
Work with Marketing team to develop – marketing strategic plan, showcase students’ work
Work with Development team to support in the search of grant opportunities.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Senior Program Director.
Support in the coordination of the Youth Submit and other community and educational events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field (Masters Prefer).
At least 4 years of experience in supervision and program development.
At least 4 years managing SYEP/WLG/Pathways programs/Learn and Earn
At least four years of direct experience in mentoring or leadership setting.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Google Docs.
Great interpersonal skills and knowledge of SYEP/DYCD regulations.
Must understand and be familiar with DYCD Connect, YELPs and other platforms use by DYCD
Great interpersonal skills to manage and couch staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work takes place in one or more school buildings, which may require climbing stairs.
Typical job hours are 9 am -5 pm, Monday - Friday, and events that take place during occasional nights and weekends.
Travel via public transportation or car may be required throughout NYC.
